The Family Proclamation
This is a musical video of The Family Proclamation
In her 2015 talk, "Defenders of the Family Proclamation", Sister Bonnie L. Oscarson said, "The sanctity of the home an the essential purposes of the family are being questioned, criticized, and assaulted on every front." "When Gordon B. Hinkley first read "The Family: A Proclamation to the world", ...[little] did we realize then how very desperately we would need these basic declarations in today's world as the criteria by which we should judge each new wind of worldly dogma coming at us." (The rest of the talk is powerful. I'd encourage you to read it fully! [link @ bottom]).
Every word of The Family Proclamation is potent! We need to know this and have our own testimony of its truth and doctrine in our hearts and minds so that when we are confronted, and our morals, values, eths and beliefs are challenged, we instantly recall the tuths of The Family Proclamation. With God on our sides and in our hearts and minds, we can declare and defend the truth with full confidence and conviction. Sis. Oscarson shared a story of a young woman named Marie Madeline Cardon who stood with courage and power when threatened by a "strong, ferocious" angry mob of men. Her Spirit and words compelled them to silence and shame. Like Sis. Oscarson mentioned, we likely won't have that same type of obstacle, but we will have times where we will be confronted with opposition and we can have that same courage and the Spirit of God with us. "30 I tell you these things because of your prayers; wherefore, atreasure up bwisdom in your bosoms, lest the wickedness of men reveal these things unto you by their wickedness, in a manner which shall speak in your ears with a voice louder than that which shall shake the earth; but if ye are prepared ye shall not fear." (D&C 38:30).
The Family Proclamation is truth. Study it. Memorize it. Notice what stands out to you and see how you can magnify that in your own life. Pray for guidance and strength.
"4 And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not btrue; and if ye shall ask with a csincere heart, with dreal intent, having efaith in Christ, he will fmanifest the gtruth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost.
5 And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may aknow the btruth of all things."
Any changes in the world begin in the home. ANy changes in the home begin in our hearts. I want to share my testimony that I know The Family Proclamation was divinely designed for this time. I know that it is wisdom from God, our Heavenly Father and our Savior, Jesus Christ; and I believe that if we follow His council, as written in the Proclamation, we will be protected and directed throughout our lives.
With Love,
Jillene Smith
