Faith--That Mountain
This is the Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra of Temple Square singing "Faith".
"Faith is trust in God above; in Christ who showed the way. Faith is knowing the sun will rise, lighting each new day."
I've really been missing Sunday meetings and have occasionally ( or more) felt a bit down having not been able to go to church for the last few months. As I was reading Alma chapter 32, I couldn't help feel I related with poor were "cast out of the synagogues". Here's a snippet:
"...we have no place to worship our God; and behold, what shall we do?
Perhaps you might relate with this as well?
However, as I continued in the chapter, Alma's words perked my attention.
In Alma 32:9-12, he said,
"Behold thy brother [or sister in my case] hath said, What shall we do?—for we are cast out of our synagogues [churches], that we cannot worship our God.
"Behold I say unto you, do ye suppose that ye cannot worship God save it be in your [churches] only?
"And moreover, I would ask, do ye suppose that ye must not worship God only once in a week?
"I say unto you, it is well that ye are cast out of your synagogues, that ye may be humble, and that ye may learn wisdom..."
What can you take from that?
Throughout the rest of the chapter, which I would encourage you to study, Alma teaches us about faith. What is faith? What if we take this principle of Faith as a seed, and apply it to something specific in our life beyond what we have before? What if we can grow our faith in overcoming this epidemic? What if we grow our faith in the heart-change of a loved one? What if we could grow our faith in patience with God's timing in our personal life? Perhaps faith that the mountain we want Him to move is not going to move; but that we will gain what we need by climbing it instead. Or perhaps when we prayed for it to stop raining, another is praying around the corner for the rain to water their crops.* Faith in His All-seeing wisdom and eye.
I'll share just a few verses here.
" I would that ye should remember, that God is merciful unto all who believe on his name; therefore he desireth, in the first place, that you should believe, yea, even on his word."
" Now, as I said concerning faith-- that it was not a perfect knowledge-- even so it is with my words. Ye cannot know of their surety at first, unto perfection, any more than faith is a perfect knowledge.
"But behold, if ye will awake and arouse your faculties, even to an experiment upon my words, and exercise a particle of faith, yea, even if you can no more than desire to believe, let this desire work in you, even until you believe in a manner that you can give place for a portion of my words."

Let us practice faith and find more peace and joy in our lives. Plant the seed of faith and see it grow!
